Check Out The Making Of Kibera TV Mural

 Stephen Okoth a reporter  of Kibera TV revealed his other side of him-art designer. The following are photos of him drawing the Kibera TV Mural.

Now, the name KIbera TV was a bit hard to do. It needed correct measurement.

Stepnhen managed sketching out the name, next was painting it up.

For each story we need a story board, yes even for this. This is the sketch of the mural.

Hot Sun Foundation At TEDx Talks

Hot Sun Foundation participated in the last TED x talks that were held during the month of August in Nairobi. The talks were held in Mathare, Kibera, Kangemi and Korogocho on different occasions. Represented by Josphat Keya the Program Coordinator Hot Sun Foundation talk focused on empowering and nurturing the rich talented youth in who are found in the most informal settlements of Nairobi. The talks were inspiring seeing how the organization started from a small start to now something that is empowering the youth who had lost hope and the society had denied them a slot to empower themselves.
The trainees form Kibera Film School were also present in all the talks, they were helping covering the event, their counterparts Kibera Tv were not left out either. The coverage was part of building their skills.

To spice up the event, at the end of the talks, the audience was taken to the world of film as Togetherness Supreme was screened for them.

Trainees finalizing their projects.

Today we are doing our final touches on our second projects. We will be evaluated on Monday 8th November 2010. We will be also finalizing on our P.S.A and another project known as ‘one day on earth’, which is supposed to be uploaded online.

We have been given the whole of this weekend to complete the three projects. As starting from next week we will be attending a documentary class till December.

Beatrice, a trainee is also finalizing her project.

A POSITIVE WEEK

   

                                                                                                                                                                            Our class session with Ian Mbugua .He taught us on how to be in character while acting and also gave us feedbacks on our second projects and the public service announcements that we just did.

       On the same week we received visitors from Federico, we showed them some of our projects and also k.t.v news. They also suggested that if possible they could send their films so that we can critic and send them our feedbacks.

We all Loved it

We here at the film school have started the week on a very busy note, but also to an astonishing experience, we had visitors Sandra J. Ruch, and Micki Dickoff both successful film makers from Los Angeles.

Both visitors were delighted by the works of the students and even had a chance to get some merchandise from our school gallery.




























They also got a chance to meet aspiring film makers and talk to them, this was a great opportunity for all students, we got to ask questions and get answers from a professionals point of view, this was very much appreciated.














Apart from all that fun activity, the friendly duo also watched and commented on some of the students projects, it was good to see them appreciate our work, the students bonded with them and even took photos, we all appreciated the vsit and would love for them to visit the school again.

Down From Isiolo

Victor and Josphat with Moran

Josphat Keya, Clarence Ilavonga and Victor Ombogo Friday 1^st October left for Isiolo for a three-day documentary shoot. The documentary entitled Not For Love highlights the early bridal marriage practices among the Samburu community.

Josphat was the Producer/Director, Victor the D.O.P and Clarence was the Asst. Cameraman. It was indeed an experience for the crew. This is part of the ongoing process of integrating the youth into professionalism in the film industry.

“I’m happy that I was challenged to produce and direct the project, the challenges I faced were all to build me up and prepare me for the next level in this industry, I’m one more step ahead through this project.” Josphat

“We worked as a team, consulting each other during the shoot. It was the best experience ever outside Nairobi, I’m proud of what we did.” Victor

“I feel privileged to have been in the team of Josphat  and Victor, I learnt a lot. This is the kind of experience we need.” Clarence
